The Chinese Chef is responsible for planning, preparing and serving authentic Chinese-style meals for company personnel in accordance with the required menu, meal schedule, hygiene standards and personnel numbers.

The position requires an experienced and professionally certified Chinese Chef who can independently prepare Chinese breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages while managing kitchen operations, food supplies, menu planning and supporting personnel.

The Chef will also supervise the Chef Assistant, maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and cafeteria, and ensure that all catering activities are conducted safely, efficiently and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Menu Planning and Food Supply
    Develop balanced weekly menus featuring authentic Chinese cuisine.
  • Prepare meal plans based on the number of company personnel requiring catering services.
  • Schedule and coordinate the ordering and delivery of food, ingredients and catering supplies.
  • Monitor food inventory and ensure sufficient stock is available to meet daily operational requirements.
  • Recommend suitable meal alternatives for approval by the Company Supervisor when required.
  • Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate portion sizes, quality and nutritional balance.
  • Meal Preparation and Service
    Prepare Chinese-style breakfast, lunch and dinner daily in accordance with the company’s required schedule.
  • Provide snacks, beverages and other food items when instructed by the company.
  • Ensure that all meals are properly prepared, attractively presented and served at the required temperature.
  • Adjust meal quantities according to changes in personnel numbers.
  • Accommodate special meal arrangements, dietary requirements and company instructions when necessary.
  • Required Meal Schedule

    Breakfast

    Breakfast must be prepared and ready by 6:50 a.m. daily, except Sundays unless otherwise instructed.
    Provide at least five meal items.
    Breakfast must include at least one meat dish, porridge, milk and eggs, or another approved option.

    Lunch

    Lunch must be prepared and delivered to the office by approximately 11:30 a.m. on working days.
    Weekend lunch must be ready by approximately 11:30 a.m.
    Provide at least four dishes, including at least two meat dishes.
    Rice should normally be provided as the staple food unless another option is approved by the Company Supervisor.

    Dinner

    Dinner must be prepared and ready by 6:00 p.m. daily.
    Provide at least four dishes, including at least two meat dishes.
    Staple foods may include rice, noodles or other approved options.
    Menus may be adjusted to complement the selected staple food.
  • Kitchen and Team Management
    Supervise, train and allocate daily duties to the Chef Assistant.
  • Ensure the Chef Assistant is properly trained and able to support food preparation and meal service.
  • Coordinate kitchen activities to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and on schedule.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment, utensils, stoves, pots, preparation areas and storage areas are properly cleaned.
  • Ensure cutlery, crockery and food-service equipment are cleaned and disinfected after every meal.
  • Maintain the kitchen and cafeteria free from flies, mosquitoes, rubbish, unpleasant odours and other hygiene hazards.
  • Ensure rubbish bins are emptied, cleaned and properly maintained.
  • Food Safety, Hygiene and Quality
    Ensure all food is prepared, handled, stored and served in a clean and hygienic manner.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance.
  • Prevent cross-contamination between raw and cooked foods.
  • Ensure food is properly stored at safe temperatures.
  • Inspect ingredients before use and remove any expired, damaged or unsuitable products.
  • Follow company food-safety procedures and applicable health regulations.
  • Maintain cleaning, temperature, inventory or food-safety records when required.
  • Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
    Treat the safety of personnel as the first priority.
  • Comply with all company health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Understand and control kitchen risks associated with:
    Fire;
    Cooking gas;
    Electricity;
    Hot surfaces and high temperatures;
    Sharp utensils;
    Slips, trips and falls;
    Food contamination;
    Manual handling.
  • Inspect kitchen equipment before use and report defects immediately.
  • Ensure cooking appliances, gas connections and electrical equipment are safely operated.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, emergency drills and workplace inspections when required.
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions and food-safety concerns.
  • Company Events and Special Catering
    Plan and prepare meals for company meetings, celebrations, cultural activities and special events.
  • Coordinate food quantities, menus, preparation schedules and service arrangements for each event.
  • Provide full catering support throughout company events.
  • Remain available until catering services are completed and the event has officially ended.
  • Support special meal requests or additional catering arrangements when instructed by the company.

Minimum Requirements

  • More than five years of professional experience as a Chinese Chef.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing authentic Chinese cuisine.
  • Must be a permanent resident of China, as specified by the client.
  • Must possess a recognized Chinese Chef Certificate issued by a professional chef-training institution in China.
  • Proven experience planning weekly menus and coordinating food-supply requirements.
  • Experience preparing meals for groups or company personnel.
  • Ability to supervise and train a Chef Assistant or other catering personnel.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, sanitation, kitchen safety and food-storage procedures.
  • Ability to prepare meals according to strict deadlines and service schedules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with company representatives, catering personnel and suppliers.
  • Health and Documentation Requirements
    Successful candidates must provide:
    • An updated curriculum vitae.
    • A valid Chinese Chef Certificate.
    • Evidence of more than five years of relevant experience.
    • A valid health examination report or medical fitness certificate.
    • Identification and residency documentation.
    • Any additional documents required by the company or client.
