Welder (Offshore)

The Welder is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient execution of welding, cutting, and general repair tasks on the drilling unit. This role requires adherence to safety standards, maintenance of welding equipment, and continuous updating of welding procedures to ensure optimal performance and safety. 


 Operational Duties:

Commit to working safely and take responsibility for the safety of fellow crew members.

Assist the Supervisor in identifying jobs that may require a Risk Assessment.

Ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment and maintain cleanliness in assigned areas.

Perform welding, cutting, and general repairs and maintenance throughout the drilling unit as directed by the Chief Engineer.

Maintain a sufficient stock of necessary welding consumables, including gases and electrodes.

Supervise, inspect, and maintain the oxy-acetylene installation and all welding equipment, ensuring the safe stowage of oxy-acetylene bottles.

Continuously update knowledge of welding procedures.

Notify the Chief Engineer of any spare gear requirements.

Ensure a Fire Watcher is present when required by the Permit to Work.

Obtain and maintain welding qualifications as required.

Perform any other duties as directed by the Chief Engineer.


Quality, Environment, Occupational Health & Safety, and Energy:

Adhere to Stena Drilling Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Energy policies and procedures.

Commit to preventing environmental damage.

Participate in the Company’s Observation system and conduct Observation Audits.


Training:

Undertake necessary onshore and offshore training as per the Training Matrix.

Complete Stena Drilling’s Competence Assurance Scheme within 12 months of assignment.


Qualifications and Experience:

Essential Qualifications:

Coded Welder certified to ASME IX and EN 287-1, 6G (HL-045), 4” Sch160, API 5L.

Essential Experience:

Previous experience as a Rig Welder.
