STEM ADVISOR

Georgetown, Guiana

The STEM Advisor plays a key role in shaping and executing ExxonMobil Guyana’s STEM Education initiatives. This position is responsible for strategic planning, project execution, and partnership management to advance the company’s STEM Education initiatives and other key focus areas. 

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in education or community development, with a passion for STEM and a track record of managing impactful programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies, budgets, and project plans for STEM Education initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Support the launch and operations of new STEM education facilities, designed to improve academic achievement, confidence, and interest in STEM careers ensuring it meets the needs of teachers and students.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Prepare high-quality briefing materials for internal leadership and external partner engagements.
  • Monitor program performance and recommend improvements based on data and stakeholder feedback.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive-level materials.
    Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Effective collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills; team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities.
  • Skilled in strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Negotiation/influencing skills - Ensure that cross-functional issues are adequately considered/managed and supported with integrated program planning and communications efforts.
  • Education/community relations knowledge; firm understanding of issues and opportunities facing education industry.
  • Knowledge of education systems, community relations, and grantmaking processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong proficiency in the English language; knowledge of other languages desirable, but not essential.
  • 5+ years of experience in project and budget management, preferably in STEM education, youth development, or community engagement. 
  • Experience in STEM education initiatives, with a deep commitment to equity and access in underserved communities.
