The Field Operator III (Solids Control) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting solids control equipment on offshore drilling rigs.
This role ensures safe and efficient management of drilling fluids and solids, strict compliance with HSSE standards, and optimal system performance.
The position requires technical expertise, offshore readiness, and a proactive approach to safety and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain solids control equipment (shale shakers, centrifuges, desanders, desilters).
- Ensure safe and efficient circulation of drilling fluids through the solids control system.
- Perform pre-job and post-job inspections to verify equipment integrity and readiness.
- Assemble, install, and prepare solids control equipment for service on offshore rigs.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Monitor solids removal efficiency and drilling fluid properties.
- Maintain accurate documentation of equipment performance, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Technical proficiency in solids control systems.

- Ability to work in physically demanding offshore conditions and extended rotations.
- Comply with all company HSSEQ policies, procedures, and offshore safety regulations, including the Health, Safety & Environment Management System.
Observe all health, safety, security, and environmental rules and regulations. - Stop work immediately if unsafe conditions or hazardous practices are identified.
- Report all unsafe conditions, practices, incidents, near misses, and defective tools/equipment to your Supervisor without delay.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before starting any task and implement risk mitigation measures.
- Understand and perform assigned jobs according to operating procedures and work instructions; seek clarification from your Supervisor if in doubt.
- Do not undertake any job you do not fully understand—ask your Supervisor for guidance.
- Wear and correctly use all required PPE and verify safety equipment functionality before use.
- Participate in mandatory toolbox talks, safety meetings, and internal/external training sessions.
- Cooperate fully during incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Support emergency response drills and maintain readiness for offshore emergencies.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying hazards and suggesting improvements.
- Ensure environmental compliance in handling drilling fluids and waste disposal.
- Adhere to all guidelines stated in the Company Policy Manual.
Must Have
- Craft Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Petroleum-related discipline (required).
- Degree in Engineering or related field will be considered an asset.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiar with offshore HSSE standards and safety procedures.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in solids control operations, preferably offshore.
- Strong knowledge of solids control systems and drilling fluid management.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components.
- Familiarity with offshore rig operations and safety protocols.
- MANDATORY CERTIFICATIONS & COMPLIANCE:
- Valid TBOSIET with CA-EBS certification.
- OGUK Medical Certification
- Up-to-date vaccinations as per offshore health requirements.
