Sample Catcher

The Sample Catcher is responsible for collecting, cleaning, and preparing geological samples from drilling operations. This role ensures that all samples are properly labeled, logged, and delivered for analysis according to standard operating procedures. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

  • • Collect drilling cuttings at designated intervals from the shale shaker or mud return line
    • Wash, dry, and prepare samples for geological analysis
    • Accurately label and store samples in accordance with client and company procedures
    • Maintain proper documentation and sample logs
    • Assist the Mud Logger or Data Engineer with sample descriptions when required
    • Keep the sample area and tools clean and organized
    • Follow all site safety and environmental policies
    • Communicate effectively with the drilling crew and geological personnel

Must Have

  • • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Previous experience in a rig or sampling environment is a plus
    • Good physical condition and stamina
    • Basic understanding of drilling operations and sample types
    • Detail-oriented and organized
    • Willingness to work long shifts, including nights and weekends
    • Ability to work in offshore or remote locations under rotational schedules
