Electrical Technician

The Electrical Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently performing assigned maintenance and preservation tasks, ensuring that the Electrical Supervisor is promptly informed of all activities in accordance with procedures, particularly in situations involving safety concerns. The technician will demonstrate exceptional safety awareness and technical expertise in all aspects of electrical maintenance and preservation work on and around the vessel.

Responsibilities

  • • Perform regular maintenance and adjustments of electrical systems (e.g., UPS Batteries, Generators, Motors) to meet schedules and operational requirements.
    • Process asset status changes (e.g., maintenance, upgrades) in the management system and address related inquiries.
    • Audit asset data to identify and resolve discrepancies.
    • Conduct inspections and assessments using diagnostic tools to monitor electrical asset condition.
    • Document and report performance findings, comparing with historical data to ensure compliance.
    • Respond to faults promptly, diagnose issues, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Accurately record fault details and maintenance actions.
    • Monitor environmental discharges and ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Address unplanned discharges and follow proper waste/material disposal procedures.
    • Manage tools, materials, and PPE efficiently to avoid waste and maintain cost-effective operations.
    • Follow emergency protocols and participate in drills to ensure readiness.
    • Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
    • Collaborate with other teams to share best practices and improve operational efficiency.

Must Have

  • • Proven experience and qualified to ONC/ HNC, or NVQ Level 3 or recognized equivalent in Electrical Maintenance Engineering.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience preferred, with 2 years offshore petrochemical experience desired.
    • Good knowledge of PTW, Electrical Isolation Standards, Risk Assessment, Power Management System, Generation on LV.
    • COMP-EX Certified.
    • HV/LV Protection Relay and HVLV Switching.
