Project Fabrication Site Lead

 Position Overview

• Responsible for the satisfactory delivery of the fabrication work packages under their control.

• Required to develop good and collaborative working relationship with all subcontractors and

client’s personnel.

• Provides leadership, integrity and knowledge in all areas of contract and works.

• Act as primary project representative for the fabrication subcontractor and the clients on site

representatives.

• Sets expectations and targets for all operations of the site work including HSE, Quality,

schedule and cost.

• Ensures concise and timely reporting against project requirements.

• Manage and supervise a multi-disciplined team of engineers, inspection personnel and advisors.

 

Key Responsibilities

General

• Responsible for the setting up, organization and running of the project site offices.

• Managing and supervising the site team: engineers, inspection personnel, HSE advisors and

specialists as required at different stages of the project.

• Setting and maintaining clear priorities for the site activities with all stakeholders.

• Interface with the project fabrication manager to ensure proper flow of information to and from

the fabrication site.

• Manage working hours and personnel rotations to ensure sufficient cover during R & R periods.

• Issue as required to all, daily, weekly and monthly reports to Project Management Team (PMT)

and or Client.

• Set up, monitor and maintain a robust management of change systems on the fabrication site.

• Ensure application of the BMS on the project related to fabrication, quality and safety to ensure

compliance with terms of the contract.

• Provides specialist skills, integrity, leadership and knowledge for engineers in the group.

HSE

• Promote client culture throughout all phases of the fabrication works.

• Manage the delivery of all HSE requirements in conjunction with the site HSE advisor Project Fabrication Site Lead

• Ensure best HSE practice is applied during the preparation planning of all fabrication works.

• Monitor the work during execution to ensure HSE compliance with agreed systems and

processes.

• Ensure that systems and process are in place to confirm all activities have been risk

assessed.

• Arrange, co-ordinate and attend weekly site walkabouts and HSE meetings.

• Develop an environment where personnel are empowered to stop any work that they perceive to

be unsafe.

• Alert PMT and site teams of any HSE issue occurring.

 

Planning and Reporting

• Review the fabrication plans and understand the detail and critical path for all packages of work.

• Ensure that the detailed fabrication schedule meets the requirements of the overall contract

schedule.

• Highlight and advise any areas of schedule criticality of the fabrication schedule to the PMT.

• Review the fabrication schedule and verify, on a weekly basis, that the progress is a fair and

accurate assessment of the work completed within the period.

• Provide all schedule information required by the PMT.

• Effectively manage the schedule to minimize the impact of the activities that have the potential

to overrun.  

• Co-ordinate with all parties vessel arrival, load-out requirements, turn-around times and sail away

dates.

• Ensure an efficient and robust system for time sheet recording and approval for any

reimbursable type works.

 

Engineering

• Review, understand and ensure compliance of all the required codes, standards and project

specific documentation.

• Review and comment as required on all subcontractor supplied documentation.

• Manage the approval of the subcontractor documentation in line with the schedule

requirements.

• Co-ordinate via the PMT timely delivery of all required design and material deliverables.

• Ensure sufficient personnel, processes and equipment is available to allow the site integration

testing to be satisfactorily completed and verified by required parties.

Quality

• Deliver all fabrication in accordance with the required Quality Standards.

• Ensure that there are systems and processes in place that can verify all facets of the product

quality of the completed fabrication.

• Alert PMT about any QA /QC issues occurring.

• Ensure process and personnel are in place to effectively manage the completion and punch

listing of fabricated items.
