The Electrician will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation, installation, maintenance, testing, and fault-finding of all electrical equipment and systems onboard. The role demands adherence to relevant offshore standards, timely execution of tasks, and ensuring that all equipment is fit for purpose.
Responsibilities
Operational Duties
Safely operate, install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems.
Assist the Electrical Supervisor, Chief Electrician, or Senior Electrician in identifying jobs requiring Risk Assessment.
Perform duties as allocated or directed by superiors.
Conduct operational and planned maintenance, installations, and repairs on electrical equipment throughout the rig.
Deputize for the Chief Electrician or Senior Electrician when required.
Familiarize with electrical equipment and systems to restore essential services during emergencies.
Ensure compliance with offshore standards in electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs.
Verify that Third Party equipment meets offshore standards and is fit for purpose.
Enter all maintenance, repair, and installation work into the planned maintenance system.
Maintain a working knowledge of software control related to rig-based control and automation systems.
Perform electrical equipment and system isolations.
Notify superiors about the need for spare parts, materials, or services.
Report equipment failures and safety issues to the appropriate personnel.
Communicate safety and availability concerns of electrical systems to superiors.
Monitor power consumption and distribution as required.
Maintain awareness of dynamic positioning system operations and configurations.

Training
Undertake necessary onshore and offshore training as per the Training Matrix.
Complete Stena Drilling’s Competence Assurance Scheme for the position within 12 months of the probationary period.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications:
Time-served level 3 electrician with S/NVQ3 or equivalent.
CompEx EX01-EX04 or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications:
HNC or equivalent.
Essential Experience:
Previous experience as an electrician or electrical technician on a drilling vessel, unit, or within a process or marine environment.
Desirable Experience:
Experience with High Voltage Systems, MV & LV AC Drives, and Control and Automation Systems.
Special Aptitudes:
Demonstrates effective communication skills.
