Key Accountabilities
· Able to use measuring instruments (Vernier calliper, micrometre) at a master level.
· Able to disassemble and reassemble mechanical equipment (e.g. pumps, gearboxes, turbines) without supervision.
· Able to collect information and produce comprehensive reports.
· Can interpret technical drawings at a master level.
· Able to identify root cause of failures.
· Superior communication skills- able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
· Identify parts that need repair after disassembly and create scopes of work to ensure equipment is effectively overhauled or repaired by welding and/ or machining.
· Is technically proficient in rigging and safely manoeuvre loads.
· Performing the following: Drilling, tapping, fitting, pressing, heating, use of liquid nitrogen and dry ice.
· Setting backlash of gears, checking gear contact.
· Installation and removal of bearings.
· Ordering spares (e.g. bearings, gaskets), consumables, tools, hardware.
· Able to work overtime and weekends consistently
· All other duties as specified by management.
Qualifications:
• First degree or diploma in a mechanical discipline.
• At least five years working experience in a machining environment working on rotating equipment, troubleshooting, and installation and repair experience required.
• Relevant experience will compensate for lack of certification.
• Computer Literate and able to use Microsoft Office suite and other programs.
